Load-distribution plates for temporary construction roads

The Basetrac Plate is a newly developed load-distribution plate suitable for mobile construction roads, temporary access roads, storage areas, and applications such as wind farm construction. By combining a high-tensile-strength, fiber-reinforced composite structure with an optimized weight per unit area, the plate achieves structural stability that ensures it remains passable even under extreme conditions while providing the best possible protection for the ground.

The key technological advantage of this load-distribution plate lies in its weight savings compared to conventional load-distribution plates. Despite its low weight of approximately 25 kg/m², the Basetrac Plate achieves the required flexural stiffness through its fiber reinforcement, reliably supporting wheel loads of up to 6 metric tons.

Basetrac Plate is thus the lightweight and reusable solution for temporary construction roads and work surfaces on soft ground when efficient load distribution in the ground-plate system is required rather than trench bridging.

Largest coverage area
With just one truckload (24 t),
can cover up to 1,043 m² of usable area.

Up to 80% weight reduction
For less effort during transport and
a significantly reduction in strain on both people and machines.

Long-lasting dimensional stability
Verified by Clausthal University of Technology,
excellent performance without deformation
even after 1,900 overruns.

100% recycled plastic core
The Basetrac Plate is made entirely of recyclable materials and can be recycled after use.

Maximum load-bearing capacity
for construction site traffic

The Basetrac Plate load-distribution plate consists of a core made from 100% recycled polyethylene. The load-distributing core reduces stress peaks in the subgrade, while the fiber reinforcements on both sides absorb high tensile forces, thereby significantly increasing the system’s overall load-bearing capacity.

These Neolaminate fiber reinforcements consist of impregnated UD tapes with a thermoplastic matrix, whose fiber orientation is optimally aligned to ensure maximum force absorption. This combination results in high load-bearing capacity and dimensional stability, ensuring that subgrades with low load-bearing capacity can be driven on for virtually any construction project.

Advantages of our load-distribution plate

  • Easy handling on the construction site
  • Sustainable reduction of CO₂ emissions
  • Significant cost savings through efficient logistics
  • High investment security thanks to rapid reusability
  • Wide range of applications, such as temporary access roads in wind farm construction
  • Suitable for intensive and long-term use

Proven strength of our load-distribution plate

To confirm its functional suitability under realistic operating conditions, the Basetrac Plate was subjected to large-scale laboratory tests at the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering at Clausthal University of Technology. Various test series were conducted in which the load distribution plate was subjected to wheel loads of up to 6 metric tons on subgrades of varying stiffness, with contact surface stresses of up to 800 kN/m².

The results were consistently positive and demonstrate excellent load distribution and stability. Even after more than 1,900 passes, the load-distribution plate showed no signs of plastic deformation.

The primary benefit of this load-distribution plate is to effectively distribute wheel loads in conjunction with the subgrade, reduce rutting, and ensure drivability with minimal material, transportation, and handling costs.
