Situation
For the rearing of laying hens, a poultry farm in Meppen was seeking to install a movable barn partition. This was to enable the 26 m wide and 90 m long barn to be divided into four areas. At the same time, barrier-free access was required for mucking out, bedding, and moving hens around. A passageway for workers also needed to be included to ensure easy access.
Solution
The client opted for the installation of two Lubratec roller walls with bottom-opening mechanisms and tubular motors at a height of 3 m and a width of 13 m. The protective netting type 25/25-25 was used as the textile material at the top. The large mesh size allows air to flow freely. The lower 40 cm were fitted with the very dense Lubratec windbreak net type 60/60-1. This prevents visual contact and the animals pecking at the floor area. The roll-up walls were suspended in the loft using 4 mm stainless steel wire ropes attached to 50 mm aluminium grooved tubing. Hinged doors, covered with Type 25/25-25 netting, were installed for the workers access. To prevent the chicks from wandering, these were mounted higher up and the lower opening was sealed with a solid panel.
Advantages
As no substructure is required, installation can be carried out quickly and easily. If necessary, the Lubratec roll-up walls can be quickly rolled up using a tubular motor and switch. Furthermore, the use of coarse mesh fabric maintains the natural air flow. Overall, this system is an ideal and cost-effective solution.
