Situation

As a modern waste disposal company in the greater Hanover area, Noris Entsorgung GmbH offers solutions for all aspects of recycling, processing, logistics and utilisation and is one of the leading specialist waste disposal companies in the region. At the Hanover site, various types of waste are processed into high-quality secondary raw materials in a modern sorting and processing plant. In 2021, a new recycling line for processing the contents of the recycling bin was put into operation. The openings of the new hall built specifically for this purpose were to be sealed to make them weatherproof. It was essential to maintain natural air circulation - on the one hand for operational reasons (dust/odour situation) and on the other hand to ensure passive smoke extraction in the event of a fire. In addition, high wind loads and intensive lorry and forklift logistics had to be taken into account. For noisy areas, the client wanted additional noise reduction within the hall.

Solution

In order to realise a combination of flexible weather protection and permanent ventilation, Noris Entsorgung GmbH opted for textile door systems and facades from the Tectura product range. Two folding fronts, each 14 m wide and 9 m high, were installed. These are explicitly designed for large openings with high wind loads and can be folded upwards from the bottom - ideal for frequent opening and closing during handling operations. The fronts were fitted with a type 60/60-1 windbreak mesh. The fabric with a high wind-breaking capacity of up to 94 % consists of a PES mesh fabric with a PVC coating, has a mesh size of less than 1 mm × 1 mm and a material weight of around 450 g/m². In addition, Tectura tensioned variants measuring approx. 7 m × 7 m were used as trapezoidal gables - also consisting of wind protection mesh type 60/60-1. The textile façade provides wind and weather protection while allowing fresh air to flow in and was customised for the exact trapezoidal gable shape. To reduce noise emissions in the interior and exterior areas, an approx. 150 m² sound insulation tarpaulin was also installed inside the hall.

Advantages

The Tectura folding fronts and textile facade used at Noris Entsorgung GmbH combine a number of decisive advantages for the operation of the recycling hall. The use of air-permeable nets ensures the natural exchange of air. This supports both a pleasant indoor climate and effective smoke extraction in the event of a fire. At the same time, the strong wind refraction of the mesh significantly reduces draughts behind the door surfaces without impairing the necessary ventilation. The robust folding fronts are designed for high wind loads and offer reliable weather protection in combination with the precisely manufactured clamping variants. For day-to-day logistics, the appropriately sized door systems ensure convenient entry and exit for lorries, forklifts and conveyor systems. In combination with the installed sound insulation tarpaulin, which reduces noise pollution both indoors and outdoors, an overall concept has been created that ideally combines weather protection, operational safety, emission reduction and cost-effectiveness.
