Paper recycling
more sustainable than landfills

Comprehensive paper recycling is not a matter of course in the UK, but a challenge. For 13 years now, HUESKER UK has been taking the problem into its own hands and has their sensitive paper items professionally disposed of by a local company.

Unfortunately, there is no way to dispose of paper or cardboard at our headquarters in Warrington; and the establishment of a recycling bin by the property management is not yet planned. However, the idea that this valuable raw material simply ends up in the garbage does not sit well with us.

Do-it-yourself recycling

One in five trees felled worldwide ends up in paper production. An enormous waste. Especially when you consider that recycling just one ton of paper saves around 17 trees. Reason enough to dispose of the wastepaper generated in our company sustainably.

What have we invested? A little time for research and a few phone calls to find the right partner: a local company very close to us that disposes of our sensitive papers properly at a very reasonable rate — on time, close and efficient.

It works: Since day one, our DIY recycling has been running smoothly. That was 13 years ago, and to this day we are still pursuing this form of "active environmental protection" with full conviction. Over the years, several tons have been collected that could be recycled sustainably. But year after year, our paper volume is decreasing — and for good reason.

Digital communication for a paperless future

Of course, we consciously rely on digital processes in our company and try to keep paper consumption as low as possible. If necessary, we prefer to use recycled paper. But it's amazing how much paper can be saved if you do without printouts in the long term. Digital communication technology makes it possible. Speaking of technology: our technical devices such as laptops, iPads and mobile phones do not end up in the garbage, of course, but are consistently recycled.

We are proud that everyone in the team is pulling in the same direction and that we have achieved so much in the last 13 years. Preserving and recycling raw materials should be a matter of course in every company.

Paper-back — that's the least we can give back.

PS: Good news! Recently, the property management have situated several recycling bins on site. We are happy that they changed their minds and paper recycling finally becomes a topic the whole building can profit from.

Yours, Sharone
