We keep the cold out

The cold must stay outside: Our new high-speed doors open and close via motion detectors to prevent heat loss. This is a significant savings potential that is optimally exploited with every rapid opening and closing.

Whether goods receiving, production, corridors or storage areas: Until now, the passages at the company headquarters in Gescher were not or only insufficiently protected against temperature fluctuations. This meant, on the one hand, that cold draughts could penetrate heated rooms, and on the other hand, that storage rooms or corridors were passively heated by the higher temperature in other areas. As a sustainable company from the very beginning, it was our ambition to effectively curb energy losses.

The Way to the Quick Gate

As a first step, we pinpointed the locations that were best suited for the installation of the roller shutters. Here, the energy team and the workshop worked hand in hand: offers were obtained, investments were planned, and after the contract was awarded to the company of our choice, the installation also went smoothly.

From the very first start-up, we were impressed by the speed with which the roller shutters open and close. And just as quickly, noticeable and measurable changes occurred in terms of climate technology:

  • Convenient use thanks to the fast, automatic opening on the command of motion detectors and without disturbing the workflows
  • Less heat and cold loss
  • A significant reduction in gas consumption
  • Less draughts
  • Noise protection through the installation of the gates
  • Noticeable improvement in working conditions
  • Consistently positive feedback from our employees

Energy advantage through technology: All along the line, the roller shutters were able to convince us with their running speed, reliability and efficiency. Another sustainable step in the right direction — and certainly not our last.

Highly recommended

In order to be able to heat with different hall temperatures, especially in winter, we will install more doors as early as next year. The focus here is on the thermal separation of a larger storage area from production. In addition, we are trying to minimise the draughts that penetrate from the truck docks to the delivery of goods into production.

Every measure counts and with every door installed, we ensure an even higher level of energy efficiency in order to reduce our CO2 footprint once again.

Yours, Kai
